The receiver unit simply plugs into any handheld port on your base unit or extension plate. Only one receiver is needed regardless of how many wireless handhelds you are using. For best operation, the receiver unit should not be placed under the layout in a tangle of wires or where scenery mesh screening may interfere with the radio transmissions.
